All of us love good news
Could you use a bit of good news today? If so, then please continue reading to discover the good news that God has especially for you!
Most of us have heard a lot about Jesus. But do you realize that Jesus Christ was the most unique person to have ever lived on earth? Through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was conceived and born of the virgin Mary. Therefore, Jesus Christ was 100% man and 100% God, united in one person. Jesus claimed to be God. His profound teaching, sinless character, amazing miracles, atoning sacrifice on the cross, and triumphant resurrection from the dead all verify that claim. God’s good news begins with the unique person of Jesus. He became a man in order to be the Savior of mankind; yes, this includes you! He understands how difficult life can be and He desires to give you rest.
“Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 1:20).
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us” (Matthew 1:23).
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”… “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:1, 14).
Jesus came to live a perfect life in our behalf and die on the cross for our sins. That is good news because it means that any thought, word or action you have committed, which violates God’s perfect Law has been paid for by Christ's death. Sin separates us from God and is the cause of death, both physical and spiritual. But Jesus took your punishment so you wouldn’t have to. But the good news does not stop there. Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead and credits His perfect life, credits His righteousness to you by faith alone. A new life not based on philosophy or religion, but through a personal relationship with Him, which is based on the historical, objective events of His sinless life, death, resurrection, and imputed righteousness.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
“Christ died for our sins… That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (1 Corinthians 15:3; Romans 8:4)
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18).
The best news about all of this good news is that you don’t have to DO anything to earn God’s love and acceptance, it has all been DONE!! He is waiting for you to stop trying to be good, stop trying to look acceptable in His eyes, stop trying to perform and stop trying to earn forgiveness…YOU CAN’T DO IT!! This is true because God’s standard is 100% perfection. Let’s face it; none of us is perfect. So God devised a better way, the way of GRACE. Instead of doing, God asks you to trust in what Christ has done for you. Your pardon from sin and death are not based on what you do for God, but rather it is based on what God has done for you. It is received by trusting in the person and provision of Jesus Christ by faith alone. HE ALREADY HAS FORGIVEN YOU from the cross and as a result of this amazing grace, our response and motivation toward the Lord Jesus Christ is now born out of gratitude and love. Jesus is waiting for you to accept this awesome gift, this awesome news!!
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12).
“We love him, because he first loved us ” (1 John 4:19).
“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift ” (2 Corinthians 9:15).
Can you think of any reason why you should not receive your pardon from sin and death? If you believe the good news of Christ’s person and provision, then please receive your pardon from sin and death as a free gift. Turn from your self-trust (I can DO something to earn God's forgiveness and acceptance) to trusting in Christ alone (In what He has DONE for you). You can do that by praying a simple prayer, such as or similar to:
“Dear God, I believe that Jesus is the God/man. I believe He died for my sins and rose again. Right now, I will stop trusting in what I can do to earn heaven, and put my complete trust in what Jesus Christ has done for me by His death, sinless life, and resurrection. Lord Jesus, I trust You alone for my forgiveness and the gift of eternal life.”
If you prayed, placing your trust in the person and provision of Jesus Christ, the good news of forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life is yours!
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24).
“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son” (1 John 5:11).
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
