Welcome to Word of His Grace Christian Ministry!

Word of His Grace Christian Ministry began to take shape in the winter of 2012 as a group of 10 people who had a vision to plant an Evangelical Church that sought to share a Christian Worldview from Scripture. An opportunity soon arose in the area of Chula Vista, which is a densely populated collection of middle to upper-middle class suburbs with excellent school systems and a strong community atmosphere.  As a result, the area attracts many young families.  A significant percentage of these young families are disillusioned with their religious upbringing so Pastor Angel Casas and the core members of Word of His Grace Christian Ministry believed that a contemporary style church with a relevant presentation of the Word of God would meet the needs of many in the Chula Vista area. Our name is taken from Acts 20:32 where the apostle Paul committed believers to God and to "the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified."

I hope you will come and visit us soon!

What You Can Expect

Worship Service

Our worship service is on Saturday: 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. We offer Sabbath School for children from birth through sixth grade.

Worship is an expression of faith. So at Word of His Grace Christian Ministry you may see people with their hands up or down, eyes open or closed but worship at Word of His Grace Christian Ministry is all about honoring and giving praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  So please feel free to worship the Lord in the way that the Holy Spirit leads!

Worship involves praising, singing, praying, and studying together as the body of believers before our Lord Jesus Christ.  At Word of His Grace Christian Ministry you will also see us listening to the preaching of God’s Word, sharing our gifts, and spending time in fellowship between services.

The Lord’s Supper and Offerings

The Lord’s Supper is available to all believers in Christ twice a year or every six months. Scripture nowhere instructs Christians on how often it should be celebrated; however, we at Word of His Grace Christian Ministry seek to make the Lord’s Supper a time of reverence, gratitude, and joy as we remember the Lord Jesus’ atoning sacrificial death for sin on the cross. As a guest, you are not expected to make an offering, but certainly may if you are so led. Our members make offerings as part of their commitment to God and to the church for the purpose of evangelism.

Testimonies

“It has been a real blessing to hear a message, do a Bible study, and fellowship with brother Angel Casas. Anointment by the Holy Spirit is evident and preparation is obvious as our brother delivers God’s word in authority and love. The grace and mercy of our Savior pours out as our brother allows the Lord to use him in every message. God’s truth, wisdom, and clarity in a surrendered servant will bless you every time.”  - Your brother in Christ,  Auggie Gutierrez

Frequently Asked Questions

frequently asked questions

Why does Word of His Grace Christian Ministry worship on Saturday?

We affirm the biblical teaching that justification before God is by faith alone (Romans 3:28, 5:1; Galatians 3:24; Ephesians 2:8) apart from works of the law. In obedience to Christ, we recognize the seventh day Sabbath as a memorial of creation, redemption, and our rest in Jesus (John 14:15; Romans 8:4; Hebrews 4:9; Matthew 11:28-30). The seventh day Sabbath can be traced back to creation where God, “blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it” (Genesis 2:4). Along with the other nine commandments, the Sabbath was written with the finger of God (Exodus 31:18), which are now written upon our hearts (Hebrews 8:10, 10:16), and Jesus declared that the Sabbath, “was made for man” (Mark 2:27-28). Jesus, along with His apostles observed the seventh day Sabbath as the day of rest (Luke 4:16; Acts 13:42, 44, 16:13, 17:2, 18:4) and John the revelator, identifies the saints as they, “that keep the commandments of God” and have “the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12).

What should I wear?

Casual to business casual will do.

Does faith alone or faith plus good works result in one's salvation?

Many sincere Christians wrestle with how salvation is received. The confusion lies in certain words spoken by both the apostles Paul and James. Paul emphasizes that salvation is by faith alone (Romans 3:28), while James appears to be saying that salvation is by good works (James 2:24). Is there a contradiction?

No. Paul clearly teaches that salvation is received by placing one's faith in what Jesus has done for us, apart from good works. James emphasizes that a profession of faith without good works is empty and does not demonstrate a changed life. Both Paul and James appeal to Abraham who, "believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness" (James 2:23; Romans 4:3; Galatians 3:6).

So, the conclusion is that salvation is received by faith alone, while any profession of faith empty of good works or a changed life, really demonstrates a lack of genuine saving faith.
